I’m Embracing Self-Love This Month—and You Should, Too
I’m grateful to live somewhere where there are four distinct seasons. That means there’s always something to look forward to—or to complain about, depending on who you are—from fall foliage to beautiful winter snow and then thawing out through spring and summer.
Of course, the seasons mean we have to learn to adapt, too. Everything from our skincare routines to our wardrobes and commuting habits require adjustments. The seasons always keep us on our toes.
Come February, many of us north-easterners hit a wall with the cold weather. This makes it the perfect time for some seriously extra self-love. From a long, hot bath and face mask to a solo movie or book night at home, February is a great time to curl up and do something cozy of your choosing, for you and only you. After a January full of hard work and sometimes deprivation (depending on whether you’re a revelation or resolution person), chances are you deserve some cozy self-love by now anyhow.
Luckily, my family and I finally planned ahead and booked a trip somewhere warm this month, but that doesn’t mean I’ll need the self-love any less. It’ll likely be harder to step away and take time to myself on vacation, but I’m going to make sure to do it anyhow, with at least one long solo beach walk and a little time to read each day (likely West with the Night or something else I’ve bookmarked on GoodReads).
While it sounds kind of corny, “self-love” comes up year after year for a reason: It’s important and timely. I have to remind myself of it this time of year and am reminding you too!
